I started DatGurl in 2004 in response to the dearth of spirited clothing options for plus-sized women.  For me, DatGurl is not just about fashion. It is a way of feeling confident and in the moment. DatGurl is someone who enjoys playing with fashion and is not afraid to take risks. DatGurl is an independent thinker. DatGurl doesn't mind transgressing. A little bit or a lot.

Those of us who are size 12 and larger want to have choices. We don't want to be limited by conventional fashion standards or what is considered beautiful.

In a world that strongly suggests specific standards of beauty, loving your body is a powerful act. To me, DatGurl is a part of this revolution of acceptance and love.
